Vth EDITION OF BIOTERRA SEES HIGH ATTENDANCE LEVELS, WITH 7,900 ATTENDEES
Bioterra 2008 has exceeded expectations and become the most visited edition of the fair, focussed on Ecological Products, Bio-construction, Renewable Energy and Responsible Consumption. In total, 7,900 people, 37% more than last year, approached Ficoba over the weekend for first hand contact with its 100 participating exhibitors.

The excellent public response to the Vth edition of Bioterra, and other increases such as the number of stands (83), exhibitors (110), and contracted square metres (1,100) all confirm Bioterra’s consolidation. And not just in its immediate surroundings, but rather state-wide. As things stand, it is clear that Bioterra is amongst the three-benchmark fairs in the ecological sector. And in this sense, it is worth highlighting the interest in Bioterra amongst exhibitors from other autonomous communities. The truth is that this year, exhibitors from Guipúzcoa represented 24% of the total and the rest of the Autonomous Basque Community, 13%.

There was a constant stream of visitors throughout the weekend, but without a doubt Sunday was the best attended, when 4,500 people approached the Trade Fair drawn by the broad exhibition offering and the important range of parallel activities. Mainly due to the presence of the Japanese expert, Masaru Emoto, who arrived directly from Japan to participate at Bioterra, congregating over 600 people for his talk, at which he encouraged us to care for and respect water, in all its varieties, as a means of ensuring humanity’s survival.

Another attraction on Sunday was the “Giant Basque Country Eco-Paella”. An event with an exceptional lineage: chefs Martín Berasategi, Iñigo Lavado and Arnaud Daguin. The initiative was a massive success and over 2,000 dinners were able to enjoy the paella.

Exhibitors too, were very satisfied with the support Bioterra has generated amongst the public and the activity at the fair throughout the weekend.
